Zeromax Drives - What they do & How they work

Designed for use on a wide variety of machinery, Zero-Max Drives may be used as primary or secondary drives.

The speed range is infinitely adjustable from 0 to 1/4 of the input speed under full rated load. Reversible models are available with reverse and neutral settings.

They are available in five sizes providing constant torque of 12 to 200 inch pounds throughout the speed range. To achieve the exact performance characteristics you require, Zero-Max Adjustable Speed Drives are available with optional gearheads.

How the Zero-Max Adjustable Speed Drive Works

The input shaft drives four or more one-way clutches that move back and forth, each rotating the output shaft a partial turn for each stroke.

Since one rotation of the input shaft causes each clutch to move back and forth once, the output shaft will be urged once per clutch for each input revolution. Therefore, with four clutches working in series and an input of 1440 RPM, the output shaft is urged 5760 times per minute (1440 x 4) or 96 times per second (5760÷60).

As the control arm moves from zero toward maximum, the amount that each clutch urges the output shaft becomes greater - thus increasing the output rpm.
