Spring Applied Brakes
 

Tol-O-Matic offers five different sizes of spring applied brakes: the FS-20 Series, FS-220 Series, FS220I Series, FS-440 Series, and the FS-595 Series. These single acting calipers require pressure (normally hydraulic) for disc release. Braking force is provided by a stack (or stacks) of Belleville spring washers, capable of storing enormous force. When the brake is pressurized, the force moves a piston(s) to compress the spring washer stack(s), releasing the disc.
